We are a small kitchen in Scotch Plains cooking the food of the Himalayas: Nepali plates on one side of the menu, Indian on the other, and the same hands behind both.
That means momos folded to order and dropped into jhol, chiura and sekuwa off the grill, thali platters that land as six small bowls at once — and, out of the tandoor, the naan, tikka and curries you already know by name.
Come in, get comfy, and let the flavors take you on a little mountain getaway. No hiking boots required.

Himalayas Tea House and Spice Cafe is an absolute hidden gem in Jersey and a standout destination for anyone craving authentic South Asian flavors. Masterfully blending classic Nepali specialties with rich Indian spices, every dish delivers a pure, well-balanced taste that keeps you coming back for more. If you are visiting for the first time, there are a few absolute must-try menu highlights:
Chilli Veg Momos: Packed with flavor, perfectly textured, and tossed in a vibrant sauce that delivers just the right amount of heat. Noodles: Expertly seasoned with aromatic masalas, cooked to perfection, and full of fresh ingredients. Specialty Tea: Warm, comforting, and brewed with an authentic blend of spices that rounds out the meal perfectly. Garlic Naan: Fresh, pillowy soft, and rich with garlic butter—ideal for pairing with any dish. Beyond the exceptional food, Himalayas Tea House sets a gold standard for hospitality. The space is easily one of the cleanest, finest, and most well-maintained establishments in the area. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, matched by a friendly, attentive staff that makes you feel genuinely welcomed from the moment you walk through the door. Whether you are local or just passing through, this place is a mandatory stop. A well-deserved 10/10 experience!
The atmosphere is plain and simple, because in its simplicity it allows for the service to showcase and support the main centerpiece; the food. I have been here twice and ordered dishes from the aloo chat to byriani and the naan. I’m playing darts with the menu selecting things at random and haven’t been disappointed yet.
Delicious food and great service. We got Mustang ko Aloo Chop, chicken momo, chicken taas, and lamb thali. They were accommodating to food allergies. Everything was authentic, can’t wait to come try more!
We came across this place by chance, and it turned out to be such a great find! Loved the veg momos and thupka, and the paneer thali was delicious too. The dal in particular felt so comforting and homely—just the kind of food that makes you feel at home.
The food is out of this world! Two people had been telling me about this place, and I finally got the chance to pick up dinner for the family.
This is without a doubt a staple for family dinners from here on out. The lamb and goat biryanis were phenomenal. Every bite was a flavor bomb.
Not only was the food spectacular, but the owner was such a warm and welcoming gentleman. I’m glad I work close by, because he’s the kind of person you want to support.
If you’re in the Scotch Plains area, I highly recommend this place.
The food is so tasty. I’ve tried chicken Saag, and it was creamy, tasty, and it had the perfect amount of spice. It came with basmati rice, which was also fresh and delicious. My boyfriend tried the chicken lowmain, and it was super fresh and very tasty. The customer service was incredibly friendly and inviting. The garlic naan was delicious. All I can say is, if toi are looking for homemade, real traditional food, this is the place you go to. You would want to keep eating and eating. Thank you for the hospitality today, and for bringing us a little piece of your delicious food and culture.
